FAST TRACK ROUTE TO QUALIFIED TEACHER STATUS

 

The UK government has made it mandatory for anyone desiring to be a qualified teacher in the

country’s further education sector to hold necessary teaching qualifications namely:

 

PTLLS - Award in Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector 

CTLLS - Certificate in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector

DTLLS- Diploma in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector

 

For Whom

Anyone desiring to be a teacher, tutors, trainers, assessors and instructors or anyone wishing to take a

career in teaching in colleges and other post-16 sector.

 

The good news is that PTLLS & CTLLS have been simplified and achievable within three and six contact

days respectively in an intensive classroom setting or through a flexible distance learning study

option. The courses are fully accredited by a UK national awarding body and recognised by the

Qualification and Curriculum Authority. The overall aim of the qualification is to equip and prepare

learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required for teaching in the Lifelong Learning

sector.

 

At the end of Course, candidates will be eligible to join the Institute for Learning and

achieve an affiliate/Associate/Qualified Teachers Status and obtain their threshold or associate or

full license to teach in UK further education colleges.

 

Study Options

 

*Weekday Study Option                      

For weekday study option, classes start every Monday with lectures on Mondays, Wednesdays

and Fridays in a 1 to 1 Student-centred Classroom Approach.


*Weekend Study Option*      

For weekend study option, classes start every Month with Lectures over three Saturdays.

Distance/Home learning study option
Students opting for distance learning option can start at any working day.


In-house Training
Courses can be delivered in –house/in your location/workplace to a group of 4 or more people.

PTLLS: 3 contact Classroom days
CTLLS: 6 contact Classroom days
DTLLS: 12 contact Classroom days
Distance Learning study option is flexible and can be completed subject to the amount of time

students commit to their personal studies.

Admission Requirement

There are no formal entry requirements for the PTLLS award as long as the candidate has

basic literacy and numeracy skill. However, learners should be qualified and/or experienced in

the subject that they wish to teach.

Courses are delivered in the School Location in London and professional development units in

Croydon, Brighton and Kent or through home study.

Level 3/4 Award in Preparing To Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector (PTLLS)

One of the new reforms in education is for all interested in teaching to have professional certificate. This course is a pathway to achieving the Qualified Teacher, Learning & Skills status (QTLS) or an Associate Teacher, Learning and Skills status (ATLS) which is mandatory for anyone teaching in the UK must have. The course has been carefully designed to deliver needed skills needed by every teacher in the sector. The Level 3 is for newcomers to the Lifelong Learning Sector or those who have very little practical experience in teaching skills and theory. The Level 4 is for either newcomers or those already working in the Lifelong Learning Sector but have no qualifying certificate to show .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The qualification which is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) is assessed by two groups of assignments: theory and practical. The practical includes a micro-teach session. The Course is delivered by the London School of Communication and Management across centres in London, Croydon and Brighton.

Level 3/4 Certificate To Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector (CTLLS)

 

 

 

The CTLLS course is a follow up to PTLLS and required for candidates to achieve the

Associate Teachers Status.

 

Course Duration: This course is tught in six contact days and fortified with unlimited

after-training tutorial support, 3 workplace observations, a learning journal, individual

research and completion of 3 assignments. Students ideally have up to six months to

complete their portfolio for the final award. Please contact the school office for training calendar

Ideally, CTLLS students who have completed PTLLS or equivalent qualification. However,

learners should be qualified and/or experienced in the subject that they wish to teach.

                                 Teaching Assistant Diploma

 

Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

 

This qualification seeks to develop the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting will need and covers areas such as safeguarding, communication and understanding the school context. As it is a knowledge based qualification, it can be taken by candidates not yet employed in a school, as well as providing initial training/induction for those new in post. The Award covers the knowledge and understanding in the current mandatory units of the Support Work in Schools qualifications, supplemented with additional material drawn from the induction modules developed by the TDA for local authorities. This qualification is made up of a set of learning outcomes and assessment criteria that describe what you need to be able to do, and things you need to know to achieve your qualification.

Job Prospect

 

This is a knowledge based qualification suitable for all roles in schools. This course

is designed specifically for those interested in working in schools as teaching assistants,

learning support workers, site staff, administrators as well as those who work directly with

children and young people.  After the course, candidates will be job-ready and qualified

to apply for work in schools.

 

Entry Requirements: No minimum academic qualification required but you need to

be 16+  with sufficient literacy skills.
